Imperial Citadel Chair (Ghế Hoành Thành)
Design by: Dang and Partners

Introduction

DAP (Dang + Partners) was founded by architect Đặng Ngọc Tú in Hanoi. The studio has been practicing architecture and interior design in Vietnam since 2017. By studying the creation of structures within their context, the studio researches and develops modern structures tailored to different human needs.

Practice Perspective

Creating Structures from Context
The studio’s methodology begins with an in-depth analysis of multifaceted contexts, including environmental, cultural, social, geographical, human, and economic factors. From this research, the studio develops new structures. These structures range from physical objects to comprehensive spatial experiences, all precisely calibrated to align with the evolving dynamics of contemporary human life.

Design Intent

This chair is presented as a version for the new era, inheriting the traditional bamboo or wooden stools and the widely used plastic chairs from 2000 to 2025. It is a design created for the era of mass production. The project seeks to honor the value of the design profession. Its form is generated through careful calculations based on technical specifications, without relying on complex construction processes to create the object. This design philosophy produces a chair that can exist in various contexts, easily integrating into family homes, art exhibition spaces, or street-side cafes.
