Introduction

Đặng Lê Duy is a 26-year-old designer currently living and working in Ho Chi Minh City. Although his academic background and current work focus on Fashion Design, his core passion lies in creating furniture products. Applying a self-exploratory approach, Duy uses his unique perspective and design thinking to develop decorative furniture, balancing aesthetics and functionality. His philosophy is that, whether in fashion, furniture, or architecture, all share a common mission: to create products that beautify and enhance the quality of life for the community. As a new voice in this field, Duy is committed to learning, gaining experience, and sharing his designs with industry professionals.

Practice Perspective

The designer’s creative practice has consistently focused on seeking inspiration rooted in Vietnamese culture, interpreted through a contemporary lens.

Design Intent

This guiding philosophy is often crystallized by a specific location in Ho Chi Minh City: the area surrounding Hòa Bình Theater and Việt Nam Quốc Tự Pagoda. For the designer, the beauty of this location does not lie in each individual building, but in their juxtaposition. The striking architectural contrast, placing the precise Modernist language of the theater next to the traditional pagoda architecture, is seen as a clear and powerful depiction of Ho Chi Minh City’s cultural identity.
