G-G Bench
Design by: G+ Architects

Introduction

G+ Architects is an architectural practice founded in 2014 by architect Đoàn Bằng Giang. The studio focuses on creating buildings grounded in context and the interaction of people with space. This philosophy is built on three main elements: Atmosphere, Light, and Material. According to the studio, light conveys emotion, resonating with the texture of materials to create a distinctive atmosphere for each space.

For every project, the office assigns architects to participate throughout the construction process, from research and material testing to working with craftsmen and supervising remotely or on-site. This close practice and collaboration ensure that the design intent is fully realized. Learning and adapting alongside local craftsmen allows the studio to accumulate experience, recognize limitations, and minimize conflicts between drawings and reality, aiming to create increasingly sustainable projects.

This project proposes a chair concept with multiple integrated functions, designed to accommodate various activities including sitting, reclining, or group interaction. Functionally, the product’s innovation lies in its ability to flexibly switch between two primary modes—upright and reclined—through a simple folding motion. In terms of application, this design can be used in any environment that requires flexibility for both work and group interaction. The aesthetic aspect is also clearly defined: the form of the product follows its function.
