trÂu Chair
Design by: HO Studio
Introduction
HO Studio is an architectural design office based in Hanoi, founded in 2017. The studio’s goal is to create buildings that are closely connected to natural elements such as sunlight, wind, and greenery, aiming to organize a better living environment for people through understanding and creativity. The human inner world is a core focus in the studio’s design orientation. Expressed through simplicity, coherence, and meticulousness, the studio explores values that go beyond the physical limits of construction conditions. Each project is seen as a bridge for individuals to further discover themselves and their connection to life.

“trÂu” is primarily designed for use in spaces with a strong performative art character. The chair is shaped to create harmony and coherence, while maintaining a unique presence when placed next to paintings or installation artworks. Positioned appropriately, the chair itself can become a self-standing sculptural piece, a distinct ambition of the designers.
The form of the product originates from a 5mm-thick stainless steel sheet. Its main shape was developed through careful calculation of continuous, uninterrupted straight-edge folds.
According to the designers, the initial idea came from imagining the chair placed beside a lacquer painting by artist Thành Chương. This likely inspired the creation of angled layering and a single curved line that became the focal point in the first sketch. The name “trÂu” was chosen with the hope of accompanying interior designers and performance artists, positioning the chair as a subtle yet meaningful contribution to the overall value of their artworks.
